more political info

If you aren't into politics, just skip this. If, however, you are still deciding who to vote for, here's some more fodder for the mill. Again, all I ask is that you be informed, and don't fall for anyone's fancy campaign promises. (And if anyone knows of anything disturbing about McCain that you want to send me, in the effort of fairness, I will post that as well).

a couple of thoughts....

The part about about abortion is totally bad because he acts like its just a christian issue and not an issue that should matter to everyone. To me its a matter of murder, which everyone agrees is wrong... unless its an unborn child, and then we have a huge blind spot.

However the question of how we make just laws in an incredibly divided and diverse society is a legit question. His story about abe and issac made good points, though I thought it was ironic that he used a story about a parent almost killing their child right after talking about abortion. Really though, at what point do we draw the line for where to make laws. Premarital sex? Keeping the Sabbath holy? Its a legit debate. Its not an easy issue. yeah, we as a nation will be better to follow God's truth, but when do we press to make our (real and true) justice the law? I guess I'm just seeing his point that its messy, though I don't often come to his conclusions.

The thing that really made me angry is how much this shows his double-talking...he's tried so hard to play up his "christianity" and clearly, he sees no need to live as if he was a true believer.

I completely understand your point about where we draw the line...that really wasn't what bothered me as much as his sarcastic tone about Christians and the Bible...clearly implying he does NOT believe it to be inerrant. Yes, I think abortion is huge...but hey, I guess we wouldn't want to impose all that "not killing" stuff on everybody...

It's extreme liberals like Obama that are, unfortunately, all for everyone else's freedoms, at the expense of a Christian's freedoms many times.

That all aside, it was his attitude that I was hoping to show to many Christians who I think are falling for his 'charm' and not realizing what he truly believes/stands for... He's one smooth talker that can seemingly play any card.
