great favor idea

Yesterday we had the privilege of marrying a young couple from our church and then got to share their joy by having an absolute blast at their reception!  The wedding ceremony itself was a little touch-and-go, as there was a big thunderstorm looming...and as we began the service there was literally lightning and thunder!!  Todd and I were rather flustered, as we tried to cut and condense the service as much as we could just before we walked out, in order to try to get through it, still have it be nice, but get those couple hundred people back safely inside without getting drench...or, ya know...zapped!  I am happy to report, all went well, and maybe the people were distracted enough by the lightning apparently ripping across the sky behind our heads to notice how nervous and rushed we were (I ended up pretty much just reading through the part of the challenge I had prepared for the bride because it was the only way I could keep my wits about me and keep movin'!  She, of course just smiled and glowed, and thankfully, still seemed to just be enjoying the moment...or else she was at least putting up a very brave face!!) :)

Anyway, a couple that has been some of our closest friends for years are DJ's, and they did yesterdays' reception...and they make any event a good time...plus we had lots of friends and family there to spend the evening laughing and dancing with.

But anyway...the real part of this post that I thought would interest you was these adorable favors the bride came up with (I think some gracious family put all these together for her...about 250 of them, I think!) for each place at the tables.  They are cute little s'more kits...in miniature!!  My kids loved them, and couldn't wait to make their s'mores...they wanted to do them right there at the reception.  I pointed out that they were even labeled "for later"...so that meant at home!!  They made them today and they loved making these tiny s'mores indoors (hey, that even rhymes!).

Here's the box, as they were placed at each setting...
Contents...all the necessary fixin's for making mini s'mores...
The boys, in their glory....being allowed to 'roast' marshmallows in the house...
The final results...
Definitely met with approval!!
Congratulations Karen and Ryan...blessings on your new marriage...and thanks for the great favors!!  :oD
