FREE STUFF to battle the winter blues

Being in the midst of battling a stomach bug...YET AGAIN...has me wishing this whole winter thing would just be over with already and hoping, hoping, hoping for spring and fresh air and warm sunshine. I can't even tell you how much I want to fling wide the windows and let all those nasty germs flee out, never to return as far as I'm concerned! But, since open windows certainly isn't an option for today's balmy temp of 23 degrees (that 'feels like' 15!), I'm trying to redirect myself toward more creative ways to combat the severe 'winter blues' that are dragging me down the past few days. And then I thought...what better way than FREE STUFF!!! Anybody up for a GIVEAWAY???

Our friends over at that wonderful CSN have generously contacted me again to offer a $15 gift certificate to use at any of the over-200 CSN websites. How's that for a little ray of sunshine??

Turn your thoughts towards spring things like children playing happily outside on swing set and chirping birds and blooming flowers. Think relaxing in a hammock, sipping iced tea and the smell of steaks on the grill.

There, doesn't that feel better?? No? Well, winning a $15 gift certificate for whatever you'd like to spend it on will...so go ahead and comment!! Tell me how you're warding off the winter blues, and I will pick a random winner (using Random Integer Generator) on Monday as a little Valentine prize. (Note: CSN can only ship to the US and Canada, so entries will have to be limited to those areas only.)

I'm baking choc chip cookies today and yesterday I drug the kids out in freezing cold wind to shop the clearance at Target. Shopping and baking is how I beat the winter blues!

I try to focus on what I like about winter- hot tea, snow, and Valentine's Day. Ya know how some people say "embrace the pain" while giving birth?- well I (try to) say "embrace the winter".

Just curious who CSN is. In my universe it stands for Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Anyway..I fight the winter bues by staying inside where it is warm and just being cozy. I spend as much time as possible with my GF and she brightens my days.

Crafts. And projects. If I am gonna be stuck at home, might as well change what I'm looking at here! Rearranging furniture and decorations and making new ones. It helps.

Woops, my last entry was signed in as Anna, so if that one comes up - the prize will go to her!

I turn on the music and dance with my toddler -- it's always good for a smile.

Battling winter blues is a daily thing. So I've been cooking some comfort food (Cincinnati chili!) for a friend (I didn't even eat any, but it did make me feel good!). I also would like to do some shopping, just cause I wanna, not cause I have to - if my family could ever get well long enough! And I'm thinking lots of warm thoughts about the upcoming summer and Saturdays on the lake! OH HOW I CANNOT WAIT!
