even the sparrow...

I've always wanted our home to feel like a 'haven' for family and visitors alike. I don't know that I've always been totally successful in that aspiration, but apparently one Mama Robin feels like it is. She's taken up residence right outside my door on top of our porch light, and we've been keeping an eye on her and her sweet babies as she comes and goes all day long. I love hearing the tiny little balls of fluff chirping away and then peeking out to see Mama swoop in to feed each of the tiny, hungry little beaks. Their presence reminds me of one of my favorite passages from Psalms:
How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young-- a place near your altar, O LORD Almighty, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. "Selah"

First shot I could get...just teeny tiny little puffs:
A little bit bigger...
"We're hungry!!!"
Starting to wonder how much longer our little guests will be staying...

Very cool! We often have house finches nest in our hanging planters on our front porch. I love watching them, just before they're ready to leave the nest...they are so big and the nest is so small, they take turns pushing each other to the edges of the nest. When they finally leave, what was once a lovely rounded nest is flat as a pancake! I wonder what they would do if they didn't have the "safety net" of the planter! Maybe that's why the mother bird nests where she does.
