I want something new, I want something fresh!

Do you ever get soooo bored with the routine stuff in life that you feel like if you can't just do something fun and creative that you'll burst??  After this long winter filled with sickness, cold weather and not nearly enough sunshine, I've been at that point.  There's a movie line my kids quote all the time (from "Kit" the American Girl movie) that describes me perfectly right now... "I want something new, I want something fresh..."  Oh yes...that is sooo true!!

So today and I went and gathered some supplies.  Now, most of the ideas I have are a going to be somewhat time consuming, but one of them was a quick makeover, so I just couldn't resist doing it right away.  So here she is...

I've had this little stool for.ev.er.  It's in my bathroom only because it's still a necessity for my youngest to reach the sink faucet, but is is just old and disgusting,(though, I must say my Shaklee products cleaned it up right nice!) and really kills the little black-and-white theme I have going on in there (solely to try to downplay the gray and pink that I have no choice but to live with for now).  So, a little spray paint, some ribbon and a glue gun and....voila!!

Here she is before...
And after...

I thought it might be a little to 'girly' for the boys, but they were all impressed and I got very sincere, (and totally unprompted, I might add...) "Mom!  That's really nice!!"  I love my guys!  (And my girl too of course, but I suspect she will like it just because it is girly!)

Oh how I love spring...and gettin' my craft on!!!

Here's the party's I'm linking up to...

Funky Junk's Sat Nite Special

EDIT:  I was very excited to post my lovely little stool, and didn't wait long enough to find that the pain on the rubber top part of the stool NEVER dried!!  I apologize to anyone who tried this and found this out, and felt I lead you astray.  I tried to respond by email to anyone who commented to tell me you were going to attempt this...  My solution is going to be to try to mod-podge some pretty scrapbook paper over this section...I'll keep you posted whether it works or not...  So sorry!!!

I tried this with the spray paint made for plastic in a silver color. It looks so nice, but the top rubbery part will not dry. It is sticky-gooey 2 days later. What do you think I did wrong? I only put a light coat on so far. We have another step and this one was given to us free so I'm not out much at least. Yours is adorable!

Hi Ajana,

Unfortunately, (as I discovered after I posted my project), mine didn't dry on the rubber section either. And like you, I figured if I can't fix it, it's not the end of the world. But here's my plan (and I haven't posted about it yet because I simply haven't gotten around to doing it yet) is that I'm going to try to 'blot' any stickiness that I can with a paper towel, and the use coordinating scrapbook paper and modpodge the rubber section. I'm really not too sure how it will turn out, but I'm hoping to get to trying it this week and see how it turns out, and then do a follow up post. So sorry for leading you astray on this one!!

I came across your blog post over at Better After. I have the same stool and yes it's a bit of an eyesore but we also need it for my little ones. This is a great idea, I'm definitely gonna spray mine now. Thanks for sharing!
