Lately I've been feeling like a particularly needy person...
This is because I feel like I simply cannot seem to get enough time with my hubby.
We aren't talking about
"work-on-projects-discuss-church-business-and-the-kids-schedules" kind of time,
but rather,
one-on-one
relating-to-your-best-friend
kind of time.
I know many others rarely, if ever, get dates.
This is the source of my guilt, and self-chiding.
I know I am blessed, and have so much more than others have ever had, or could hope to.
But that head-knowledge hasn't kept my heart from
craving 'date-time'.
Though I just had one last weekend, it only seems to have
'fueled the fire'...
reminding me how much I enjoy my man,
and wishing for the days of weekly dates,
time spent sharing our thoughts, our dreams, even
debating issues (in a mostly friendly way)
Am I crazy, selfish, asking for too much?
Or do I have a precious gift that should be nurtured, tended and cultivated
So that it will last and grow for years to come?
(I'm thinking the latter...) but
am open to hearing input of what
a sane person thinks is
reasonable.

First, LOVE the new business cards! I know you and Bets will do so well with that!
Second, either you or I have always been so much alike and I didn't know it, or the older we get the more alike we are?!?! I don't know. Maybe it's the distance that has keep me from knowing better! Anyway, I KNOW I'm needy - and poor David knows it too! I've always been kind of "high maintance” sometimes we have a hard time getting in some time alone. And I'm not ashamed to admit that I need about 50% more quality alone - not talking about the kids or his business - time than he does!
Some would think that since David owns/runs his own business and his office is in the house that we would have more time together, but those someone’s would be wrong! Running your own business keeps you very busy! I am glad the Lord has blessed us and David's business is doing well, but sometimes he works A LOT!
Sometimes we get so busy that a month or two goes by and I realize we haven't been on a date!
I am blessed with some good babysitters and a set of grandparents that are close enough to keep the kids, but even so sometimes it's hard getting that time in!
I say all that to say - I don't know if you and I are both needy or if that's just the way it is when you have a family and jobs!??! But I too could use more quality time alone with my man!
i kind gave my thoughts already-
you definatly aren't needy... you are a normal woman who needs to connect with her husband. And besides, Todd needs that times sometimes as well, doesn't he?
You're very normal. Thinking about spending more time w/ your man is healthy and encouraging.
BTW, I could use your floral design expertise. I'm in charge of decorating for our senior graduation ceremony. My biggest challenge right now is how to decorate an eight foot metal floral arch with Mexican colored silk flowers OR to do it less expensively or even free somehow, depedning on what's in bloom here in Maryland toward the end of May. (ie. snip and cut from diff ppl's home gardens.) Got any advice?
Off the top of my head, Zo, the fact that it is 8 foot says to me - lots of greens and fillers. That many flowers can get expensive pretty quickly. Another fun trend in flowers right now is to use things other than actual flowers...we just did a bid on a wedding with a total mexican theme (she's having a mariachi band and burrows!!); she didn't really want anything too unusual for the flowers, but we were toying with the idea of wiring in chili peppers as part of the arrangements. I would go with big bright flowers...you'll need big things to take up large amounts of space for something that big, and also you can use fabric creatively too, or even rope, depending on your creative abilities. Sunflowers would be good, and bright gerber daisies are a favorite of ours. I'm not real sure what would be blooming there at the end of May...but I know we're looking at using Zinnias in the bouquets for this particular wedding...here they bloom in the summer, like June-August. Don't know if you'd get them soon enough or not. Not sure if that helps or not; I'll keep thinking, and if you have any other specific questions I'll be happy to try to help.
zoanna- I have a thought as far as getting flowers cheap- when bets and jess did my wedding we went to produce junction and bought masses of flowers quite cheap. If you have a produce junction nearby its worth considering. The challenge is that you don't know exactly whats availible until you arrive (early!) that morning... awww... brings back GOOD memories.
