down time

I'm a little bummed...tonight is the season finale of "Eli Stone". If you've read my previous posts you may know that this is the only show that I regularly watch on TV right now, and I greatly look forward to my one hour of guilt-free, planned-into-the-schedule relaxation time. I tend to feel any other time that if I'm watching tv that I'm wasting time; but if I plan for it, I allow myself to feel that I am relaxing. (I know, it's a stupid head game that I'm playing with myself, but it gives me something to really look forward to each week, OK???) Anyway, I suppose since the show is done I could do something constructive with that time slot...but I'd really rather not... But "Grey's Anatomy" is filling that time slot, and I'm just not interested in that. So...maybe I'll actually get finished one of the 3 books I am currently reading. But I have to admit, it just doesn't have the same appeal (none of them are fiction, so none of them feel 'relaxing'). Anybody read any really good, riveting fiction lately that I could pick up as a replacement for my 'down time' time-slot?

well, I don't know of any good fiction novels, but I am reading a few others right now I think you would like... one is "Help for the Harried Homeschool Mom". It's written by a Christian and it's been really helpful for me. Then I just ordered one called "Don't Make Me Count to Three" and it's about discpline... I'm only a few chapters in and it's been very convicting. I've been thinking it would be fun to get together with other Moms once a week during the summer and discuss some of these books on parenting... pray for each other etc.
Of course, you are looking for something to read during your "down time"... these probably wouldn't do it :)

Some GREAT Christian fiction writer's are Terri Blackstock, Karen Kingsbury, and Dee Henderson. They all do mostly series, which keeps you coming back for more. I have enjoyed these wonderful Christian authors for a long time now, and look forward to each new release. In fact, Aunt Kay might even have some of the books, as I passed boxes & boxes of books on to her as I finished reading them. If she doesn't have them, then perhaps Aunt Peggy might have them.

Time to read??!! What is that? I must admit that after reading your blog I added Eli Stone to my TiVO - I do like it a lot. But it's on too late at night for me to watch it, so I get to watch while my little ones nap during the day. At my house if everyone is asleep - the Mommy goes to bed as early as she can!

My mom's right, all those authors are great! You gotta be careful - cause you get into a series and then it ends and you gotta wait for the next one to come out! I'm sure you'd enjoy any and all of them!

Also, I'm so proud of your boys and am cheering them on from here
