new find

I really don't like taking vitamins. I dislike swallowing them (I prefer chewing before consuming something) and I especially hate the 'vitamin aftertaste'. But recently I noticed that my nails kept breaking and peeling, and I could NOT get them to grow for anything...a problem I've never really had before. So I began wondering if maybe I was a little deficient in something. I figured it probably wouldn't hurt to start taking a vitamin; I know, I know, a very lame reason to start something I should be doing for my general health anyway. Thankfully, Betsy had introduced me to these - chocolate chew vitamins. Granted, it's not exactly Godiva, but hey, it's enough for me to fool myself into thinking I'm getting a treat rather than a vitamin! Whoever came up with this must've had me in mind!

(They also have regular vitamin pills that are coated with a fruity flavoring so you don't have the aftertaste. I tried them, and they did work, however, there was still not enough 'draw' in them for me to keep taking them.)

classic

What's more classic than a boy, his dog, and a baseball game...

my birthday

Today is my birthday, and I just want to report that I've had a wonderful weekend celebrating it. Actually, not everything I did was even because of my birthday, but I am just thoroughly enjoying everything about this weekend! The weather has been beautiful...some might say too hot, but it's actually quite perfect for me...and I got to watch my boys play baseball, got to hang out with some friends at a baby shower in the afternoon, and Todd took me to a Reading Phillies game in the evening (since the big-league Phils were in Flordia)...and they won! (For those of you who might not be local, the R-Phils are the minor league team for the Phila. Phillies). We got home early enough to relax a bit - watch the end of the Phila Phils game and then a movie, and after spending some time outside this afternoon, I'm watching yet another game. Just never gets old for me, I guess.

I also got some lovely gifts including jewelry, clothes, a candle and chocolate! What more could a girl want?!? I have great family and friends!

I'm baaaaaack!!

Well, I am now officially back to blogging. I took some time off, and to be honest, I wouldn't say it necessarily helped. None of the difficult or frustrating or confusing situations in my life have really changed. But it was valuable for me in re-assessing my blog, it's purpose and whether or not it's just a waste of time. What I learned is that actually, when I am "on the alert" for blog-worthy happenings in my life, it helps me to look for the good and significant things. Rather than just letting the 'big' things sort of bowl me over, I am more aware of the small things. Things that I enjoy...like my kids, and even occasionally the crazy dog. Things that I appreciate, like wonderfully warm sunny days and beautiful spring flowers. And things that amaze me, like my husband's love and forbearance (read: putting up with me!!) and God's mercies - new for me every morning!

So even though my posting might be somewhat sporadic over the next few weeks, as we are coming down the home stretch with school and just getting into the full-swing of little league, I'm happy to be back to sharing my randomness with whoever cares to read it

Here's a glimpse of today's joy... gorgeous weather and this loveliness gathered from my yard!

goodbye Harry

Well, I'm not sure if my blog hiatus is officially over yet or not, but I couldn't NOT post about how sad I am about losing Harry Kalas, THE voice of the Philadelphia Phillies! I have associated that voice with baseball - and specifically the Phillies - for all my life. Even before I cared one iota about the game, I knew the voice from hearing games on radio and tv. Then, like all Phils fans, as I grew to love my team, I of course, grew to love Harry. I tried to express my disappointment over losing such a legend to my sisters yesterday...neither of whom are baseball fans...so it was totally lost on them. They didn't even know who our beloved Harry was. So, for any of my readers who share my sentiments, all I can say is that I cannot imagine what Phillies baseball will be without our Harry. Here's to the man, the legend, the voice of the Phils...he will surely be missed.

(On a brighter note, maybe the guys will be spurred on to win this season in Harry's honor!!)

So far...4-3 for 2009... here's hoping!!!

hiatus

I find myself in a season of some personal struggle right now, and need some time to process through some things in my life. Often, blogging my thoughts helps me in my processing, but due to the nature of some of the issues I'm wrestling with and working through, it really wouldn't be appropriate to do so. Nothing bad happening or anything...just need to sort out some personal things. So right now I'm taking a bit of a blogging-hiatus. Looks like I might be revisiting some good 'ol fashioned journaling...the kind you hope no one ever finds (and uses in a deposition :o) ...just some Office humor, for those of you who are fans!)

Anyway, hope to be feeling better and back soon! In the meantime...enjoy spring!!!
